šŸŖ„The Secrets of Contact Improvisation🧬

Sale Price: $25.00 Original Price: $35.00

This an all-levels workshop that will challenge us to transform how we move in ourselves and in connection.

In this workshop we will explore some rich and expansive research in spinal articulation & mobility called ā€œMaterial for the Spineā€, developed by Steve Paxton (one of the founders of Contact Improvisation). I will share specific movement pathways that Steve explored (referred to as puzzles), focusing mainly on the 🧬Helix Roll🧬, and we will practice together how embodying this sacred-geometric pattern can enrich and inform our contact improvisation practice. Weight sharing techniques will be part of this workshop.

We will approach practice with focus and gentleness, and then have time to share a Contemplative Dance Practice at the end of each session, which is a practice of collective stillness and improvisational movement that will help us to integrate our practice.

Let’s keep dancing! I’m excited to move with you! šŸ•ŗāļø

What to Bring: water, comfy clothes (ideally long sleeves & long pants), kneepads, a meditation cushion (optional), and a journal (optional).

a Request: Please pre-register for this event, it helps me a lot with planning and preparation.

ps. I have studied Helix Rolls with Mark Young and Lilliana Kane and other Material for the Spine exercises from Nica Portavia.

$25 early bird - $35 day of

5:00-7:30 pm Sunday 3/29
