šŸŖ„The Secrets of Contact Improvisation🧬

from $25.00

This an all-levels workshop that requires a commitment to engage with some potentially challenging, yet delicious and worthwhile, material.

In this 2-part workshop we will explore some rich and expansive research called ā€œMaterial for the Spineā€, developed by Steve Paxton. I will share specific movement pathways that Steve explored (referred to as puzzles), focusing mainly on the 🧬Helix Roll🧬, and we will practice together how embodying this sacred-geometric pattern can enrich and inform our contact improvisation practice. Weight sharing techniques will be part of this workshop.

We will approach practice with focus and gentleness, and then have time to share a Contemplative Dance Practice at the end of each session, which is a practice of collective stillness and improvisational movement that will help us to integrate our practice into our bodies and our improvisational movement.

I have learned Helix Rolls from Mark Young and Lilliana Kane and have learned other Material for the Spine exercises from Nica Portavia.

Let’s keep dancing! I’m excited to move with you there! šŸ•ŗāļø
